Brewer Vet Clinic

Client: Brewer Vet Clinic

Location: Brewer, Maine

Completion: TBD

Serving the greater Bangor area for over 30 years, a young veterinarian recently acquired this established veterinarian clinic and started an ambitious redesign and expansion of the existing facility. Built in 1979, the original building experienced several modest additions that ultimately created a confining space unable to grow to meet the influx of new patients. This addition will add over 2,000 sf of fresh space complete with an expanded surgical center with improved dental, x-ray, intensive care, and laboratory spaces. Four new exam rooms (including a larger euthanasia room) are also planned, along with a doctor’s suite offices, conference room, break room, and expanded lobby area complete with specific segregation zones according to pet species. The lower level holds expanded storage, improved kennel facilities, and an elevator that will allow the easy transportation of supplies from the new loading zone, as well as the safe transportation of pets from one floor to the other. There will also be a contemplative patio area with plantings, seating, and shade. There is an air of refinement and contrast with this scheme that unifies the facility using metal siding, and fiber cement clapboards the original building is barely noticeable and positions the practice to offer veterinary medicine services to the area in a state-of-the-art manner well into the 21st century. These were great clients and we wish them well in their new facility when it is finally finished.
